The Regional AIDS Training Network together with other regional partners working in the area of HIV capacity building in eastern and southern Africa will hold a partner’s summit meeting between 15th and 16th May 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting, “Rethinking capacity building for effective and sustainable HIV Response and Health Sector Development” is jointly organised by organisers of the HIV Capacity Partner’s Summit held in March 2011 in Kenya.
The meeting, which is expected amongst other things to take stock of progress on the resolutions made at the last HIV capacity partner’s summit including reviewing the progress of the Technical Working Groups and lessons learnt from their work so far, is expected to be enriched by new entrants namely SADC, EAC, PSI, MSH, Global Fund, UNAIDS, and USAID.
It will also build consensus on how partners will work together to systematically ensure that capacity building remains high on the agenda and that it is effectively integrated within the context of institutional capacity strengthening and health systems approach building on the systems-wide initiatives of SADC, UNAIDS, USAID, Global Fund, MSH among others and set a bridge between the last capacity summit and the next summit scheduled for March 2013.
Planned to take place at a time when there are a lot happening in the field of HIV and AIDS especially funding and change of approach and strategies in responding to the pandemic, the post summit technical meeting will bring together individuals and organisations with vast knowledge and expertise and commitment to HIV Capacity building
